Palm honey baked beans with palm and thyme toast


  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp worcester sauce
  • 3 tbsp tomatoe puree
  • 2 tbsp palm honey
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 400ml 14fl oz vegetable or beef stock
  • 400g can butter beans
  • 300g can red kidney beans
  • 400g can haricot beans.
  • 10 thin slices crusty bread
  • 4 tbsp palm honey
  • thyme sprigs.


  1. Heat oil and soften onion for 5mins then turn heat up and cook until onions brown and caramilised. Add Dijon mustard and worcester sauce. Then add tomatoe puree and honey.  cook 2mins.  Add can of toms and the stock cook for 3mins. Drain and rinse beans and add to pan and season.
    Heat oven to 200c mark 6. Place bread on baking sheet and drizzle with honey, scatter the thyme over the bread. Bake for 5 - 10 mins until crisp.  Serve the beans with the toast on the side for dipping.
