Local Events and Fiestas

For the last 2 weeks Corralejo has been celebrating the Fiesta del Carmen.
Last weekend there was the main parade where the statue was carried through the streets of Corralejo and, as part of the tradition, then loaded onto a boat to be paraded round the harbour.

The locals take great pride in decking their boats with flowers in her honour. The harbour area was packed and the band played.

Being Spanish there has to be plenty of music and dancing and most of the boats played music very loudly, typical of the Spanish zest for life.

The celebrations continued with a verbena into the early hours following a fantastic firework display.
