Whale and dolphin excursion offences

15 violations were detected and reported, involving three companies and four persons in just one month

The Guardia Civil Provincial Maritime Service in Fuerteventura carried out several inspections of the whale and dolphin watching excursions in the waters to the south of Fuerteventura in mid-October. About 15 violations were detected and reported, involving three companies and four persons. The headquarters in Las Palmas confirmed the deployment of the patrol Río Órbigo and the violations.

They insisted once again that they observe the strict conditions for contact with marine mammals.  This means, among other things, that minimum clearances must be maintained and engines must be switched off.  Strict standards regulate excursions both in terms of tourism regulations and the protection of marine flora and fauna.
