Twins born during a flight

An international flight from Brussels recently had to be diverted to Gran Canaria because a pregnant woman who was expecting twins had gone into labour early.

The airport immediately informed the emergency services whose staff prepared for the arrival of possibly three urgent patients. Before landing, the pilot announced the birth of the first twin.

The baby was fine. Immediately after landing, the emergency services took over and took the newborn baby to the Materno-InfantilHospital in Las Palmas, where the second twin was born.  The mother and the two premature babies are fine.  The two of them got off to a flying start in life and will certainly keep their mother busy for the next few years.
