Disa buys 21-MW wind project in Canary Islands

January 2 (Renewables Now) - Disa, a distributor of energy products in the Canary Islands, said on Friday it has completed the purchase of a 21-MW wind project in the islands.

The company said it bought the Icor wind project in Arico from Gamesa. The project is located close to two other wind farms that Disa is building in this municipality of Tenerife. Construction of the Icor facility will take place in 2018.

Disa said the acquisition will make it the leading company for renewable energy production in the Canary Islands. It has 20 MW of operating photovoltaic (PV) installations and once its wind projects are completed, the company will have 70 MW of renewable power generation capacity.

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE) said in July 2017 it had been contracted by Disa to build the 23.1-MW Bermejo and Vera de Abote wind farms in Arico.
