Dialysis Centre

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has agreed this week to establish an agreement with Fresenius Medical Care Company to provide dialysis services in Jandia in the south of Fuerteventura for patients with chronic kidney disease in this area.

The Ministry reports that this is responding to demands from patients in the south of the island who currently have to travel daily to Puerto del Rosario to be treated in the General Hospital.

This is part of a new programme called Conserjeria de Sanidad Movernos where care, treatments, tests and interventions are being brought to where the patients are, rather than asking all patients to travel to receive this health support.

It appears that all patients that will be treated in this new centre in the south of the island, but will continue to be monitored by specialists in the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, so that treatments and disease evolution will continue to be monitored.

Fresenius Medical Care Company offers dialysis treatments using online haemodiafiltration techniques with a duration of four hours for all susceptible patients with dialyser with high permeability and high flow, and guarantees this service provision.
