Dengue mosquito report.

Healthsection  has given this Wednesday that they have controlled, but not eradicated the presence in Fuerteventura of the Aeges aegypti mosquito

 

 

The mosquito, transmitter of diseases such as dengue, after they were detected several copies last December on the island. After the technical meeting held this morning , the director of Public Health of the Canary Islands Government, José Juan Alemán, has informed journalists of the state in which the surveillance program is active on the island after specimens of these mosquitoes were found in the urbanization Las Granadas, in Puerto del Rosario.

Alemán has clarified that, although the situation is controlled, it will be necessary to wait 18 months from the discovery of specimens or eggs, as stipulated in the protocol of the World Health Organization (WHO) to decree its eradication.
