Music festival suspended

The Government of Fuerteventura this week announced its decision to suspend the Fuerteventura in Music Festival this year, which was to be held at El Cotillo Beach on 6 and 7 July.

The Government statement said “It has not been possible to manage and confirm in time and form all the essential services required to celebrate such an event that relates to the new Law of Contracts of the Public Sector, as well as mandatory adaptions of the Spanish legal system of European Union directives on public procurement.”

The Government of Fuerteventura claims it regrets the inconvenience that this has caused and that it intends to guarantee future music festivals, which will be a benchmark of good music in a privileged natural environment.

The Fuerteventura Music Festival has been held since 2004, and has previously featured artists such as Calle 13, Bebe, Macaco, Fuel Fandango, El Bicho, Kiko Veneno, Ojos de Brujo, Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Mala Rodriguez, Concha Buika, Molotov and Carlinhos Brown.
