Military accident

A soldier belonging to the Canary Islands Infantry Regiment 50 has been wounded while participating in military manoeuvres in Fuerteventura

 

 

The 27-year-old soldier was shot by another soldier in his side, and had to be transported by helicopter to a hospital in Gran Canaria.

The Canary Islands Infantry Regiment 50, based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, often participates in military exercises as part of a bilateral cooperation between Spain and Mauritania.

The seriousness of the injured soldier’s condition is unknown, but he was first transferred to Gran Tarajal, when space was created for the helicopter of the Canary Islands Health Service to land and transfer him to Gran Canaria for treatment.
