Music Festival

The 35thCanary Islands International Music Festival is now selling tickets for classical music performances across all the Canary Islands, which will take place from 10 January until 10 February, and has been organised by the Government of the Canary Islands.

 

These 44 music concerts will be presented in 20 settings on the eight islands of the archipelago. This international music festival will include well known directors and soloists, as well as hosting the farewell concert of the world famous pianist, Maria Joao Pires.

The Symphony Orchestra of Tenerife will open the festival with the opera in concert ‘Ariandne auf Naxos’ by Richard Strauss, and the festival will close with the group Jordi Savall-Herperion XXI with ‘Las Routes de la Esclavitud, 1444-1888’ in the auditoriums of Tenerife and Gran Canaria respectively.

This 35thInternational Music Festival will also feature the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria with a production of Verdi’s ‘Requiem’; the Hamburg Philharmonic conducted by Kent Nagano and the violinist Veronika Eberle; the St Petersburg Philharmonic conducted by Temirkanov with the pianist George Li; the German Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra of Bremen under the direction of David Afkham; the Cadaques Orchestra with the conductor Anu Tali and the pianist Joaquin Achucarro; Quartet Quiroga with the prestigious pianist, Martha Argerich; the London Conchord Ensemble; Orquestra Barroca de Tenerife; and the Minsk Chamber Philharmonic.
