Learning Spanish CAN be Fun

Jeanne QuigleyBack in 2006 when I bought a house here in Fuerte, I assumed that it wouldn’t take me too long to get to grips with the language. After all, I’d spent a week working in Gran Canaria (admittedly quite a number of years ago) in a very small village where, other than my Irish boss, no one spoke English. I had no choice other than to pick it up/teach myself.

And yes, at the end of a year I was pretty good. So I took it for granted that I’d soon be back in full flow in Fuerte. It was in the back of my mind, all I had to do was bring it to the front again. But it seemed that the mists of time were against me. Sure, I remembered some but definitely not enough.
